Château de Montfrin

Costières de Nîmes Rouge

Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée

Found lying between Nîmes and the Mediterranean, Costières de Nîmes is the most southerly of the Rhône valley's vineyards and, paradoxically, the coolest. A climate that makes its mark on the wines, characterised by a nice fruity palate and surprisingly refreshing potential. Very Rhone-like though, Costières de Nîmes reds, rosés and whites impart the unique character of a wine area where everything naturally links back to the Rhône Valley's vineyards.

Tasting note

Deep colour with dark purple tinges. Very expressive nose at first with liquorice; rounded silky mouth-feel with firm tannins. Surprisingly southern character!

60% syrah, 20% grenache, 20% mourvèdre.

Different soil types can be merged together; mixed silt and loess typical of the Costières and gravel from the Villafranchian era (pebbly terrain) with clay-limestone subsoil.
